Funeral scene??

I'm confused. Apart from the main body of this film being a poor rip-off of No Vacancy, what is with the funeral scenes? They were completely unneccesary and gave nothing to the storyline of the film. Without them, and if I had never seen No Vacancy, I might have watched that film and been more interested; rather than starting and ending the film going 'Huh? What the flip has that got to do with anything?!'

The bald dude at the funeral was the dude that slit that guys throat that was selling the ukrainian hookers the other one I have no clue

They didn't do a good job of tying that together. I was wtf watching that and figured someone at the funeral had to have something to do with the murders.
