I havent seen enough of these Chinese epics to know but I got a hint at a country western vibe in certain scenes that made me think it was almost merging chinese epics and western cowboy movies together?

-the rattle snake noise when tuo tuo showed up
-the whistling music in some of the battle scenes

what do you think?

The film definitely had a John Wayne/Clint Eastwood vibe to it. A kind of Oriental Josie Wales if you like.
