Petition for message boards

I don't think this petition will have any effect. They pretty much sum up the reasons in this article:

http://www.thewrap.com/imdb-shut-troll-infested-message-boards/

Also, there are many other sites(like Yahoo) that have cut back on message boards for similar reasons.

reply

The reason these boards are being shut down is because IMDb can't figure out a way to monetize it... so they are getting rid of it. No petitions will make a difference. The fact that they announced they were closing it only two weeks in advance speaks volumes.

Yes, How to monetize troll invested message boards...someone really figure that one out, and you will have an investment that all the sharks would be tripping over to get in on.

They are shutting down the message boards because it is too labor intensive. So many boards --- every movie, every TV show and every actor. And then there are the general boards --- every topic understand the sun. Members posting 24/7/365. It is way too much work. They are tired of all the constant monitoring.

Yes, that is correct.

It has little to nothing to do with trolling... it has everything to do with the fact that they are losing money off the boards. It's really their own fault for not figuring out a way to monetize them though.

IMDB is owned by Disney or some big corporation; right?
It certainly gets enough ads from the movies and TV studios, the trailers and don't the actors pay for their publicity on this site? how come it's not making money?

reply

It's owned by Amazon.

Death to shakeycam directors!
