WHy be damned by dawn?

That would be Damned AT Dawn. Damned BY Dawn just means it's their time limit; they have to be damned by the time dawn comes. I guess in this movie dawn has an importance akin to midnight in other movies.

When I was in high school, a girl named Dawn, who lived on the same street as I, wanted a ride home from school after the Friday night football game we both attended. I refused because she was a snotty gossip. Her parting shot was, "Damn you!" So you could say 'I was Damned by Dawn.'
