"At least one full episode" isn't giving this show enough of a chance. But if you continue further with the series, you will continue to see more of what you find objectionable about it -- nudity and simulated sex scenes.
It's completely unfair of you to generalize all Spartacus fans (or ANY Spartacus fan) as "brainwashed buffoons". Taste is subjective, for starters. If we're going for the stereotypical take on what makes an informed and discerning film-goer and TV viewer, myself and many here are just as happy watching well-respected classics and Oscar-winners as we are watching this series. Because this series and those classic and award-winning films and shows have something in common -- quality acting, a well-written story, and heart. Only we're not turned off by the showing of the unclothed human body in this particular instance.
I find it telling that you chose to take issue with the nudity over the violence. Bare breasts, merkin-covered vaginas, and men letting their junk hang out -- all that is more offensive to you than all the blood and gore and death ?
The usual queations (and you don't have to answer them here, but maybe for the purposes of some self-reflection)...
- Why do you feel this way ?
- What lead you to feel this way (or why do you THINK you were lead to feel this way, even if you're not sure) ?
- If it's from a belief system like a religion or how your parents raised you, why do you continue to believe as you do ?
Nudity is natural and so is sex. What's so offensive about depictions of it in our art ?
