Cate and Lux...

So I just finished watching the whole series and I had to come here and rant a little :-) So bare with me.

Cate and Lux are two of the most annoying characters I've ever witnessed on tv. They are so obnoxious, whiny, self-righteous and SELFISH!! For the life of me I could never understand why two great guys like Baze and Ryan wanted to be with Cate. And why Bug and Jones and Eric wanted to be with Lux?!

A few questions about the ending though - it felt weird how Lux and Jones kissed each other right in front of Tasha and I couldn't remember when Tasha and Jones "broke up" but it felt like a another one of Lux's "I want something and I don't care who's feet I step on". It was just because Bug or Eric weren't in the picture. You just know she is going to dump his ass once one of those two re-enter her life. It would have been nice to see Tasha getting a great ending because she deserved it. I mean Lux got EVERYTHING: the parents (even a ex-stepfather), stable home, valedictorian (how the hell did that happen?!) and the boyfriend?! She didn't even want him when there were others around and now she's sucking face with him right in front of her friend who liked the dude?! Ridiculous.

The ending felt forced. By the 3rd or 4th episode of season 2 I was over Cate and Baze and it seemed like they were over each other. I was more interested in Cate and Ryan and I looked forward to them having a baby. So by the end it felt more like Cate and Ryan were end-game.

However, despite how lame Cate and Lux are, I still liked this show and think that it deserved at least two or three more seasons. I would have loved to see more story lines involving Lux's foster home-past and Tashas and even Bugs. Hmm.

I agree with a lot of the stuff your writing. I liked Lux much better than Cate though. Cate was one I couldnt stand. And I didnt like how the show had to make everything and everyone have a problem. I thought Emma and Baze were great, and I wished they wouldnt have made her have an affair with his father. But I guess it had to be done, so he could be with annoying Cate.

Lux getting valedictorian could not have been possible. Those kids grades are calculated from the first term of 9th grade and in most cases, the ones that get that spot got straight As for every grade. Not a single A-. When there are multiples, they get down to the nitty gritty and consider the difficulty of classes taken. She had a learning disability undiagnosed and practically failing her out through 10th or 11th grade. ??? Bad writing right there! It would have been enough of a believable stretch to have her graduate with National Honor Society chords and have been asked to speak for her inspirational story of how she got there.

I'm pretty much on board with what's been said about Cate and Lux. I feel sorry for the guys in their lives. The one that throws me for the biggest loop is Eric. Once he discovered how young she was, and especially when she exhibited how selfish and immature she was, WHY would he even think twice in the direction of threatening his career and freedom??? I'm not buying it...

THANK YOU! Someone else sees it too!

I just posted in another thread about this!

Ryan is a great guy? Really? What makes Ryan such a great guy? The fact that he found out the ex he slept with might be pregnant before the wedding, and tried manipulating Lux into calling off the wedding so he could play victim and be seen as the good guy? How about the fact that he NEVER stood up for Cate at work until the very end? Not once. Not when they made her say she didn't have a child. Not when they fired her for someone else. Oh and how about the fact he held it over Cate's head how she slept with Baze and kept it a secret, when he kept his ex a secret? OH yeah, let's not forget the time his sister stole from Cate, and he BARELY asked her if she did it, and then when it came Cate's "turn" to ask Lux he pushed it much harder. You know, the same sister that baked pot banana bread -- which could have been eaten by anyone, including Lux (as Cate points out)
