Why was Lux so immature and whiny?

Yea she's a 16 year old. Although, I personally have never met a 16 year old girl that was so whiny, selfish and immature. In fact, all the ones I know are more mature and sweet. I love Britt Robertson but even she couldn't save the dreadful Lux. She was such a bitch to everyone.
