Show devised by marketing consultants and advertising agents?

This show has all the heart and soul of some gimmick cooked up in a creative meeting between ad execs and marketing consultants.

I watched Dr. Oz and studio audience volunteers give us the answers to sweet-craving reducing spices painted on the bottom of giant sifters. And then, in what had to have been the most uncomfortable taste testing I've ever witnessed, he induced these awkward women to taste yogurt laced with ridiculously large amounts of ground clove and chew on whole cardamom. I imagine it took days for their tastebuds to return to normal function.

Nobody on that stage looked at ease, least of all the Dr., who appeared as a man tricked into doing something he hadn't originally signed up for.

If this is what audiences are responding to, enjoy. But if, as a personality, Dr. Oz ever takes the time to actually watch an episode, maybe he will decide to cut the contrived segments and change the format to something more personal and genuine.

The Doctors does the same thing. It's hard to watch through the cringing.
