Scientific evidence that Dr. Oz is full of crap

A new prospective, observational study published by the British Medical Journal used a random sample of 40 episodes of The Dr. Oz Show and tested the validity of his "sage medical advice." It found that more than half of Dr. Oz's claims were completely unsupported by scientific evidence, with about 15% being contrary to scientific evidence.

BMJ made the manuscript open access, so here it is

I'm sure plenty of Dr. Oz's "flock" will remain unconvinced but hopefully some people with realize how full of crap he is.

I agree but he does dole out some good medical advice from time to time. Plus he is a world class cardio thoracic surgeon.

Jesus NEVER existed! He is Judeo Christian MYTH!

Plus he is a world class cardiothoracic surgeon.
Then he should stick to that and not try to dole out psuedo-scientific advice on topics in which he is not trained. Hell he even admitted to Congress that the weight loss drugs he pushes on people are complete crap.

reply

Everybody on TV is full of crap. Those that aren't full of crap don't have a need to be on TV.

reply

He's got millions of dollars so I don't see why he feels the need to do a TV show to begin with!

Jesus NEVER existed! He is Judeo Christian MYTH!

reply

Fame and celebrity. You could say the same about Donald Trump. Fame is a powerful drug.

reply

I wonder how many surgeries he still does a week?

I've always felt that this guy is basically the modern day equivalent of the old west traveling snake oil salesman/con artist. Just like those con artists, he is likable and he seems legitimate.

But at the end of the day, he is still a con artist.

It is common for dishonest people to appear 'likable' and 'nice'. To some extent honest people can appear to be 'rude'.
