He's destroyed any credibility he had by endorsing hacks

So this "doctor" tries to pass himself off as a legitimate professional giving
medical advice. So why do his guests include the guy who claims to talk to
the dead (forgot his name); the "Long Island Medium"--the fake psychic who
plugged her own show on this one; and on today's show, yet another "medical"
authority whose area of expertise is numerology? (She claims that adding up
the numbers in your date of birth can provide insight into your health). How
much does Oz get paid for endorsing these fakes to a gullible audience of
silly women who actually fall for this nonsense? He should just call himself the Wizard of Oz since he's as phony as the guy behind the curtain.

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

tmaj48 --

thank you thank you for summarizing what I've been saying since season 1 to anyone within earshot who would listen.

Dr. Oz is a real dr., a cardio thoracic surgeon, and one of the best in the nation. But I agree he shouldn't have crazy whack jobs on the show!

He probably does it since the producer wants it and it gets ratings.

reply

I know he's a real doctor -- and I know what technical skill he's capable of. When my husband was in the hospital (columbia presbyterian) a few years ago, I used to run into Oz a couple of times a week. Yes, he's a good physician. but he shouldn't have these poseurs of paramedical professions as guests on the show because they detract from real medicine.

reply

It's really sad that he has sold out to quackery. If you read the doctor's history, he was a highly esteemed and accomplished doctor. Now, he just shills for people selling mostly ineffective, and sometimes dangerous, diet fads to desperate women. It's sickening.

reply

Was it the money that turned him? I can't believe, after he performs delicate 10 hour procedures, that he hands his patients a bottle of bullsheet pills and says, "take these". It's herb of ivy and the tincture will climb your artery walls and keep them clean.""

reply

To be fair to Oz he did say there are skeptics when he had that dumbass medium or that neurosurgeon who claims there's an afterlife just because he had a NDE!

reply

To be fair, yes.

BUT, there is zero medical evidence to prove that the bottled snake oil he promotes for Losing Weight in 6 Hours; Curing Cancer; Preventing a Stroke; or Improving Your Heart, really works. And for that I condemn him.

reply

Some of the online endorsements imply that he is on-board with them. He emphatically says they are using his name and image without permission.

reply

I'm talking about the stuff he sells on his show where he's right there.

reply

That is a different story and I see your point. Some people believe the social media adds and I wanted to point that out.

reply

yeah yeah -- i've heard him talk about that stuff -- the ads both on tv (where they use his face) and also the social media. In fact, he did a whole episode of his own show denouncing them; AND he was on Today a few months ago on the same subject.

People will do anything to make a buck!

reply

I only catch his show a couple times a year when I have a day off. I missed all that. I really only came on here searching for a recipe from a program broadcast a few days ago. I take what ever I hear with a large helping of common sense.

My mother in law worships dr oz and believes that Long Island medium is real. She is an idiot and it isn't surprising she is a follower of these two.

reply

they have the mediums on because they draw in huge ratings...couldn't believe dr phil had one on as well a while back....(the one with the first name john, used to have his own show)...I remember dr phil said that show got the highest rating ever

reply

pretty sure you're referring to John Edward, he talks really fast, right?, yeah, Dr. Phil has an enormous man-crush on him 

Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot - than to open it and remove all doubt!

reply

I wondered this also. Tomorrow they will have a show on about people who claim to have near death experiences. I saw the previews. One guy was saying how he died and went to hell and saw the devil. That only makes sense if you are Christian. Jews and other religions don't believe in hell.

Do I drink because my dreams don't come true, or don't my dreams come true because I drink?

reply

Jews and other religions don't believe in hell.
Jews definitely believe in Satan. I wonder, where does he maintain his Jewish home?
