Changes to this show badly needed

First of all, the idea of making audience members such a large part of this show needs to go - these segments always looks awkward, forced, and amateurish. . You can tell sometimes that some of these audience members are probably thinking, "Look at me, I'm on TV. Maybe someone will discover me and I'll get my own show!!" What makes it worse, is often I get the impression he's just winging it because he seems so ill prepared. I get the impression that he found out what topics were going to be discussed on the show only minutes before going before the camera
Secondly, Dr. Oz needs to make a conscious effort to sloooooowwww down his super fast rate of speech. His words sound garbled half the time.
It also seems that sometimes he's trying to put too much into each show, as though it were catering to people with ADD who can't concentrate for more than a few minutes. For example, sometimes he'll have a celebrity guest to whom he'll speak with for a couple of minutes, and then suddenly he'll leap from his chair (abandoning his guest) and he's off to his computer generated explanation of whatever it was he was talking with the celebrity about. The guest seems surprised and perplexed about the sudden end to their conversation.
Also, as others have mentioned, the show seems to be primarily geared towards women and children. It would be more watchable if it were geared towards educated men and women.

This is a good argument for making it a half hour show on a single topic. I'm a segment watcher. It is very rare that I watch an entire show.

The separate segments might be okay if there were fewer of them done in more depth within the time frame. However, I agree that perhaps a half hour program would suffice.

First the bad. I don't like the heavy amount of audience participation either. The rushing of interesting segments is another of my pet peeves. Whenever there is a truly interesting segment, it is too short and only touches the surface. Also, I get bored with most of the celebrity segments and skip through them thanks to my handy dandy DVR.

On to the good. Sometimes they hit on something unique, and although we only get a taste of the subject, we can do our own research. The best thing about the show, and one I will always be grateful to Dr. Oz for, is how this show has been a driving force to bring high quality food to many of us. Before this show, it was next to impossible for me to find organic food in my local markets. Now I am able to find great quality food everywhere. Since so many people have jumped on the bandwagon demanding good food, thanks in large part to The Dr. Oz Show, healthy food is everywhere and the prices are now reasonable. One day a few years ago I was looking for my usual watercress in the supermarket, not realizing that Oz had just endorsed it, and it was sold out. I asked the produce manager, and he just laughed and said that every time Oz endorses a food, it sells out quickly.

I agree with the OP that the show would be more watchable if geared towards educated men and women. At this stage, I do not expect that to happen. However, I will continue to record it and only watch the interesting bits.
