We all knew it was coming but now we know for sure.

ABC kind of screwed themselves with this show. You can't air something in Canada months before the US airing and expect that the majority of the fanbase hasn't already watched the episodes online. Oh well.

ABC does this with a few other shows that I watch as well. They'll air it an hour or 2 in Canada before it's shown in the states. By that time, a bunch of people had already seen the pirated version which hurts ratings. I guess the same could be said about "Downton Abbey" airing in the U.K. one year prior to it being shown on PBS.

Anywho, the last episode did feel like a series finale. There was no way they could have not known it was suppose to be the final episode, especially the way they had set it up. I think the writers and producers knew this fully well. Besides, there were rumors floating around before the 6th season had even aired that "Rookie Blue" would be wrapped up this year since the announcement of the 5th season being split up.

I'm glad it's over. The Duncan Moore character almost single-handedly destroyed this show for me. Plus, the whole Andy and Sam relationship was getting pretty annoying at this point. There's only so much drama you can force down the audience's throats before it becomes nauseating.

ABC doesn't screw themselves. They have no say in the matter. It isn't an US show made in Canada. It's a Canadian show exported to the US. They set whatever lag time they want. It is like a UK show coming 6 months or a year later.

I really enjoyed the show, but it had reached it's natural conclusion and at least we weren't left hanging.

reply

Probably for the best. The last episode really did feel like the perfect way to end the series. I'll miss it, but it had a good run.

reply

I feel the same way.

I'd posted in an earlier thread after the season finale that it really did have the feel of a series finale. So while I'll certainly miss the show, I'm ok with that as an ending.

It's a lot more than many shows get these days.

reply

Great show, filmed in Toronto. The last episode tied things together, like they knew the end was coming.

^if a show's never sure of renewal, that's really the best possible thing they can do. if Agents of SHIELD had been canned after Season 2 (they took a big risk with those storyline endings), they (or the fans instead) would have felt like they'd been left standing with their d*** in their hand.^

Actually, I liked screamintothevoid much, much, better than this blue balls rookie cookie.

I am happy and sad...

It was great journey, and I loved the show. It is great they managed to keep storyline interesting without too much nonsense. The way they handled Sam and Andy relationship was best I have seen in a long time.

Whole final episode I was expecting treason, break up, fights and all the s***t you see in all shows, and the way they put trust in them that was unbreakable was just wow.

Their imperfect perfect wedding was very nicely done.

I keep saying colleagues from Castle should take a note on how it is done.

reply

I'm not surprised but i am gutted all the same. I was never a big fan of cop shows but apart from the now cancelled Flashpoint and still going strong Blue Bloods i loved Rookie Blue.

@laser: Yes indeed! It is a bitter and sweet moment. RB was a great show. But all good things must come to an end. And it eventually had to.

reply

Agreed. Plus it was about them being rookies. They're not anymore. They're seasoned cops.

You're so right. I mean, it only lasted for 5 SEASONS!

I stopped watching the show when Luke left. I loved Sam and Andy. I just didn't like the change.
