Indians taking over as usual

filmed in India, mainly Indian cast. Why are Indians so obsessed with Pakistanis? Always dying to play us, but you never see any Pakis playing Indians.

MAKE YOUR OWN FILMS ABOUT INDIANS!!

reply

because no westerners would ever want to set foot in smelly old pakistan where there is no law or order...and very backward beliefs would mean shooting a comedy like this would more than likely get the locals all worked up...understand? pakistan has no sense of humour where as India is a climbing superpower and always accomodating.

reply

lol you serious? since when was India a super power? It is the 2nd most corrupt country in the world (or the 3rd, one of the two) it has more corruption, exploitation, slavery and goodness knows what than most places. Saying that, i did visit Cambodia and things i saw there i never want to see again.

I do agree about Indians playing people from Pakistan....but that always happens. LA confidential was about America and the film consisted of mainly Austrailians, same for loads of films based in Rawanda, it is played by actors from the West Indies. Have you seen Bollywood movies- Muslims playing Hindus and vice versa.

it plays on the notion outsiders wouldnt know the difference- brown man plays a brown man, regardless of where he is from

compare any stats of India against Pakistans and see for yourself.

reply

Yeah we know india has 6x the population of pakistan, and the only reason why india is anywhere is becuase of the massive population.

Ha ha ha ha!!! Yeah in a mouth of rotten teeth, having a few gold teeth does not make up for it.

That is india's economic boom... rich middle class in gated communities and slums for the majority...

Same with Pakistan... So if your throwing stones, what out for you own windows...

Nice analogy

atleast there is hope for India, Pakistan will nuke itself when the fundamentlists over run the govt, Pakistan is a ticking bomb that when it explodes will be the end.

it would be easier to get logistics support and equipment in India, because lots of film equipment suppliers are there.
Also, the regions of punjab has similarity in geographic terms, so the look can be matched.
Earlier india centric movies were shot in Sri Lanka, like India jones temple of doom, and some movie based on Charles Shobraj. Getting permits and govt. support was easier and quicker in Ceylon.
And yes, the security issue must be foremost in their mind too.
The movie based on Daniel Pearls life was shot in India too. The character Irrfaan has some fan following. so it makes sense to go for a star actor.
Many crew members like to have a drink after a hard days shooting.
As far as i know you cant just walk into a bar in pakistan. Drinking at five star hotels is prohibitively expensive.
Many movies that are supposedly based in saudi arabia, etc. (lawrence of arabia), are shot in Jordan/ morroco or a more open country.
And dont forget who plays the arab ruler... a western actor with dark makeup.
Many movies based in the US are now shot in Canada. They convert Toronto to NewYork. Technicians and studios are cheaper there.

Cinema is a global phenomenon and is based on commerce. They only try to get the story world believable. After that its all about Economics and budgets.

HOPE THIS HELPS.
its not about which country is better than the other.
We come here to discuss cinema, not politics and petty issues.

Nice to see all your views on the film, and glad no-one's bringing politics into the discussion.

reply

It's simple. India has a highly efficient film industry and Pakistan doesn't.
