I am a man and liked this movie. The love story was average, but I loved the transformation of Fred. Many settle for jobs they hate and dismiss their passions as being too impractical. I'm glad this movie subtly showed that.

Nice post. I agree that the story was not about love or romance per se. It was about dreaming, having faith and passion. Had Fred not found these within himself then Harriet would not have fallen in love and wanted to stay with him. She found the cynic he was at the beginning amusing but he was not loveable. Also there was the sheikh's passion for doing something experimental and bold for the better of his country.
