No ASBO for psycho dad?

It seems like he's the kind of person these things are made for, and a whole lot of grief could have been avoided.

Yeah, even for the British police, this would be extreme incompetence.

They made out that the police couldn't prosecute without Rick pressing charges, but I don't think that's the case - I think that they would be obliged to press charges for GBH or violent affray or something.

That said, I guess even if they were going ahead with prosecution, it wouldn't have happened within the timeframe of the film. That sort of thing can take months to see through. The question is then would he have been released on bail? I would think so, in which case him being back home is credible I reckon.

The violent dad was the cause a lot of this bother and should had been arrested for the first assault.

Its that man again!!

reply

Sadly this sort of thing with troublesome neighbours is all to common and there is very little the police can do. A sign of our times.

Also, at one point, why were his daughters glad when he was arrested and taken away by police?

reply

ASBO? I had to look it up (antisocial behaviour order), which, it seems from the description given, is peculiar to the UK. It sounds like it's about as effective as restraining orders are (not very) in the US.
