Joost is the most endearing character. I still laugh when I think of his saying, "If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much!"

Joost, for whom kindness is an instinct.

I love that line, and those kind of people.

I said this in a different post, but I'll say it again here.. He was my favorite character, because of his quiet kindness and compassion. I also liked how his character (different use of the word) showed itself gradually and subtly as the film unfolded. And yes, I like people like him in real life as well.
