The crying child left on the beach...

That was the only scene I thought was somewhat eerie. The humanoids / aliens simply didn't have regard for human life, even if it was the life of a child. They didn't view humans in a significant way. Or at least that's how I viewed the characters. It's been a while since I watched the movie. Can someone clarify that scene for me? What was going on?

The mother wanted to kill herself, her husband tried to save her. They both drown. The aliens don't care about the baby.

In the novel on which the film is based the aliens (they were more than one) hunt humans for meat, maybe the baby was just too small.

Is there anything else to it ? I don't know.

Yeah, I did not see the dog. I projected my own suicidal thoughts on the film.

Don't kill yourself it's too boring without you.
