Diagnosis: Death - review

To be honest, I only watched this movie because I loved Flight of the Conchords. I went in not expecting a great movie, but I was pleasantly surprised. Jemaine Clement has a minor but funny role in the intro scene, Rhys Darby has two quite funny scenes and Bret McKenzie plays an aloof doctor who wanders in and out of the movie for the duration.

It's basically a good ol' fashioned ghost story. Funny, a bit scary at times, occasionally suspenseful: pretty much all around well done. Good acting, good plot, good production, good direction. Nothing amazing, but well worth the watch (especially if you're a Flight of the Conchords fan)!

Mild gore... ghosts a bit cheesy (intentionally I think), and I did thoroughly enjoy it!

8/10!

I haven't see Flight of the Conchords but didn't really find much of this funny. A couple isolated scenes got a smile but that was about it.

I've seen much worse movies though, this one just seems very forgettable.

I also watched it for FOTC but I'm going to keep an eye out for other stuff from this Director. I really enjoyed this movie. It is not perfect but was thoroughly enjoyable.

The humor here is a bit more subtle, less American hit you over the head with it.

Story was a basic ghost story but that isn't a bad thing when done right and IMHO they pulled it off here.

I'd also give it a solid 8/10 for a low budget genre pic.
