Is the 3 camera/3-wall set/laugh track comedy dead?

It lasted nearly 60 years since I Love Lucy, but it just seems there has not been a good new show with this format produced this decade.

I'm not familiar with everything that's on now, but didn't Everybody Loves Raymond (who I believe shares the same writer as Hank) still play up into this decade?

Also, I think the shows "King of Queens", that Charlie Sheen comedy "Two and a Half Men", "How I Met Your Mother", "The Big Bang Theory" and not to mention many of the popular Disney and Nickelodeon childrens shows also continue to use the 3-camera + laugh track style.

I don't watch any of these shows. I mentioned them only because some of them have had rather high ratings, so that shows the format is still around.

But I do agree with you that it might be on a severe decline, and people are now favoring the floating, fly-on-the-wall single-camera style like that found in 30 Rock and The Office. (although technically, I think they're covered with multiple cameras right?)

Yep...there were/are some entertaining comedies New to this decade...made with a laugh track...(that I guess use the 3 camera method)...Like 2 and a half men (2003), how I met your mother (2005), the big bang theory (2007), yes dear (2000), grounded for life (2001), less than perfect (2002), still standing (2002) and reba (2001).

And yep...several popular comedies...(using laugh tracks and 3 cameras)… started in the 90s...but were going on IN this decade too...Like frasier – ending 2004, friends - ending 2004, 3rd rock from the sun – ending 2001, king of queens – ending 2007, becker – ending 2004, just shoot me – ending 2004, that 70s show – ending 2006, everybody loves Raymond – ending 2005, 2 guys and a girl- ending 2001, and will & grace – ending 2006.

I hope they don’t completely do away with this format. I like the feel of these ‘old fashioned’ laugh-track comedies... just like I like some of the laugh-track-less comedies too. :)

I completely agree. I love the 3 camera and laugh track style sitcoms! It gives shows that "traditional comedy" feel, which I absolutely love! In fact, I like shows with laugh tracks and in the 3 camera stye way more than I like single camera/no laugh track style shows. Traditional comedy rules! Laugh track/3 camera style is how sitcoms should always be in my opinion.
HOME IMPROVEMENT IS THE FUNNIEST SITCOM EVER!!!
