This may be a touchy subject...

Is it within people's rights to try and change their destiny?

What if Dem hadn't have knocked up Janis? Let s say that she saw she was having an ultra souncd, but circumstances prevented her from conceving at the right time.

Who's to say that - should she have conceived a child by bucking the rules of the system and that the child grows up to be a serial killer?

Or or maybe Bryce, by not committing suicide, causes him to meet, fall in love, and father a child with Keiko who grows into the next Hitler.

Is it our place, to say that free will takes precedence, despite what may happen.

Actions have consequences.

Janis and Bryce saw their future in a flash, they didn't try to change it. Janis not having a baby was against her destiny. Bryce comitting suicide was against his destiny. You seem to think any child could be a dictator or a killer so the best way for any couple would be to stop having any children at all. That's ridiculous.

people always have the right to chose. a very common element in any kind of prophecy story is that even knowing something about the future doesn't really tell you anything about it. demonstrated very well by several misunderstood flashforwards (Nicole being a great example)
for Janice it was her choice to try to make the flashforward happen or to decide against it. neither could really be labeled as a wrong decision because there simply wasn't enough information on the future to tell if one would be better than the other

we saw Frost, Gabriel and others trying to make the futures they considered 'right' happen but we never really knew enough of any of those futures to say they were good futures or not. none of the characters could possibly know either, even those who'd had hundreds of flashforwards. too many variables. ultimately the flashforwards and 'destiny' can influence free will but cannot remove it completely
