Watching for the first time

It's interesting the way the Jules character suddenly seems to turn into a kind of control freak starting in episode 4. Wonder what inspired that.

Continuing to watch. It's amazing how fast they ditched the Cougar Town concept. Meanwhile they all seem to sleep with one another. Should have changed the name to Swinger Town.

THE TITLE AND ORIGINAL CONCEPT BECAME OUTMODED FAIRLY QUICKLY..THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THE CAST WAS EXCEPTIONAL AND THEY QUICKLY DEVELOPED A DYNAMIC THAT DIDNT REALLY JIBE WITH THEIR ORIGINAL INTENTIONS...GREAT SHOW...THEY ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE TITLE MANY TIMES,MANY THINGS PRECLUDED IT FROM HAPPENING...THEIR TOP CHOICE,WHICH ACTUALLY APPEARS IN THE FINALE....THE SUNSHINE STATE.

Strange treatment of age. Sure, everyone makes mistakes, but these fortysomethings seem to behave like twentysomethings. Saying the wrong thing in bed, for example. They ought to be old enough to know better by now.

Another weird thing about age is that Ian Gomez was born in '64 and Nia Vardalos who plays his mother was born in '62.

Just saw the Matthew Perry episode. Cannot believe they delayed making a Friends reference until literally the last word in the episode. They could have had sooo much more fun with that.

Don't understand why Grayson would ever marry Jules if he wants a kid so badly. Makes little sense, and he is one of the few sensible characters.

I was a huge fan of Scrubs, but this series doesn't really hold up in quality. Part of it may be that in Scrubs the characters had some aspirations, like trying to keep people alive and so on. All these characters seem to want is drinking and making fun of each other.

Now reached the start of season 6, when Laurie is about to have a kid.

It's funny that Friends, ostensibly about Friendship, seems to have mostly been about intimate relationships whereas this show, ostensibly about intimate relationships, seems mostly about friendship.

Still have not found a character I care about.

It was hard to believe that considering Bobby's approach to the rest of life, that he could ever be afraid of roller coasters.

Apparently Lawrence likes Seinfeld since there have been several callouts to that show. But he certainly didn't learn the Larry David "no hugging, no learning" rule from it. Actually, I don't mind if there is hugging and learning so much, but only if there's some counterpoint to it, as we got with the janitor character in Scrubs. But that element is missing here.

The proper way to end this series is to have them all go to an AA meeting, or checking into a hospital with dementia.

Well, finally finished it. It didn't end as I suggested -- too Seinfeldian I guess -- but the finale was true to what the show had become.

Read through all the threads here about the show and the number one topic appears to be plastic surgery, surprisingly enough.

Never did acquire a love for it, but I'd say it's kind of a casual viewing show. Watching an episode every day over lunch worked out pretty well. Not too demanding or offensive and you get to know the characters and develop a comfort level with them.

In movies they say the first one is for show and the sequel for dough. I wonder if Scrubs and this one had that kind of relationship.

Overall, 6 out of 10.
