Trying to be funny vs actually being funny...

Is lost on the actors and writers of this show. Fortunately for them, there is an audience who doesn't distinguish betwen the two. If you enjoy this show, you are one of those unfortunate people that doesn't realize their own deficiencies.

um, mr. brian you post on and find CHRISTMAS VACATION to be funny. you're opinion has as valid as dirt. but nice try. LOL.

reply

In all fairness, Christmas Vacation is hilarious

reply

i actually have nothing against that movie. my point was to show the idiot op that we all like different things. (i actually like European Vacation! LOL).

reply

Judge Not, lest ye be judged!
I am one of those "unfortunate people" who enjoy the show and so far my "deficiencies" have not impaired my ability to have a good, successful and responsible life. We all have deficiencies, of course, but I don't consider enjoying a comedy on television to be a critical measurement of them.

reply

I suppose you probably think you're funny.

Hint: you're not. Thanks for trolling, have a nice day :)

I'm a little perplexed. You think that The Great Outdoors is funny, but that people who enjoy Cougar Town are deficient? There really isn't a lot to say about that but...well, I really don't know what to say about that.

Boo hoo hoo, there are girls on my show. I'm taking my balls and going home

reply

Hey now Magrattus, The Great Outdoors is a classic! You really don't like it? =) One of my favorite movies ever haha

When John Candy plays the straight man and Dan Aykroyd's the lunatic, that never works. Ask anyone who saw Neighbors or Loose Cannons.

And you think Rocky IV is one of the top sports movies of all time?

You criticizing Cougar Town is like Donald Trump criticizing someone's hairdo.

I watched a couple of episodes when the series began, and then again lately just because I read so much discussion about Christa Miller's face and Courtney Cox's face. And I agree with you: everybody seems to be trying to be funny, but they usually aren't actually very funny.

There will always be an audience for shows that some find funny and some don't. I recall sitcoms from the late '50s/early '60s, and I always thought that Leave it to Beaver was funny, but The Donna Reed Show wasn't. More recently, some felt that According to Jim was funny, while I thought it was lame and watched only a couple of episodes before giving up. I thought Seinfeld was funny, but some of my colleagues at work just didn't agree at all.

As they say, there's no accounting for taste.

"If you enjoy this show, you are one of those unfortunate people that doesn't realize their own deficiencies."

And throwing out moronic statements like that confirms that you know all about deficiencies, like the massive deficiency in your level of class and intelligence.

reply

I agree completely and judging by the responses you got here, the people who enjoy the show sincerely have no idea what they are talking about.

reply

Or perhaps the OP is under the delusion that what they feel is funny is universally funny and should apply to everyone. Maybe the rest of us understand that comedy is subjective and the OP should just find another show to watch instead of working out their inferiority complex on this board.

I wonder if you have the same problem, judging by how quickly you agree with one person and not others.
