Arguably the best sitcom to come in a long time

What can I say? I was one of the few who had the opportunity to stay home Friday night to catch this great show and was simply blown away. Anyone else?

Don't let staying home on Friday night bother you. I spent quite a few Fridays in the 80s watching TV when I had no date.

I wactcehd them both and I agre with you. it's agood show. Too many people here are basing what the series will completely be based on two airings.

These same people are the ones voting "no" on my review. Yeah, right guys...it's "not" useful.

Like always, these people vote no just to feel like they're right. (Or just to be immature).

It's a decent show. I have it DVR'd because I let it lead in to Dollhouse. I haven't missed an episode yet but if it goes I won't miss it. It does have its moments, just not enough of them.

why is it that when someone disagrees with someone's opinion something is wrong with them or they have alterior motives for having an opposite opinion other than simply having an opposite opinion.
i dvr-ed Brothers and then went out of town. i happened to catch part of the 1st/pilot episode and was quickly bored. i had a feeling that would happen even though i like all the actors/actresses involved...... cch, action jackson, darryl chill, and even michael strahan (although i wondered about his acting abilities).

still, and back in town, i had 4 episodes on my dvr. so just now, i tried to watch another. the show is simply boring and unfunny, unfortunately. i totally disagreed with the review that gave the show 10 stars.
and honestly, it doesn't matter how many episodes one watches, if he/she doesn't like it then he/she doesn't like it. it's simple.

i came on here to see if it was just me and to see what others felt about the show. now i know.
for those who love it, enjoy. i will be taking it off of "record series."

peace.

To triple sixx :

First of all the yes/no votes are not about agreeing or disagreeing with my opinion. They ask "was this review "useful"? Not "Do you agree with his opinion or not"?
"No" means, "well this review didn't tell me very much". Not ,"I hate/like this show/movie and think this guy's wrong and I'm right." That's what most people on here use it for,to feel right or just vote "no" without a reason.

Anyway, this is a new show for pete's sake, the cast members are still getting used to acting with each other. The may have experience but it still takes time for a show to hit it's stride.

Nobody was really watching "All In The Family" when it debutes either in "January" of 1971. ...but,the reran it all summer andpeople found it. Of course back then, there were only two other networks.

With all the hom video entertainment,cable,satellite,computers/lap-taps etc. A regular network ( ABC,CBS,NBC & Fox , hardly stands a chance these days.

"Brothers" can make it,if FOX , the critics and viewers give it time to grow.

It used to be a series would at least a 4 month try out before it was decided "this just isn't what viewers are looking for". These days it's like trying to entertain a spoiled child who wants instant joy.

"Boy that "one" show just wasn't that great!" The first few shows of a series are usually not the best ubt (for the last time ) given time,it can be a lot better. It's good now but canstill get better.

you have me mistaken with some of the other people on here perhaps.

i wasn't even talking about yes/no votes. and i could care less. i never yes/no vote. when i'm looking for regular people's opinions about anything i look for and read reviews. thus, i was simply stating i didn't agree with your review (nothing more, nothing less).

but you seem to miss a very important point, which is that everyone is entitled to their opinion. or maybe you're not missing that and you are simply defending your favorite new show. but your particular arguments are meaningless to me b/c the fact of the matter is there is way too much on tv to watch something boring, unfunny, or unentertaining 10 times to see whether or not i will like it. maybe in a few months i will tune in again......... probably not. i mean, i get it (and i know) many shows/sitcoms have a slow or not so good start but so what. i don't have to like it.

additionally, i'm not one of the folks on here wishing for the show to fail. as i said, i like the actors/actresses so i wish them well. is Brothers the worst show ever? of course not. but it's not good, in my opinion.

by the way, i'm not tripping about anything you wrote...... i'm simply responding. i will take it that you are simply defending a show you love. just don't make it seem like those who do not agree have a problem..... or are spoiled... or whatever.

I like this show and Pup, IIIIIIIII Yes'd your review :-D

We can DO IT ALLLL DAY LONG, (We'll have to pay more for the light bill if we do it at night!)

reply

no the show is just horrible why are you defending it so much like you work for them. It does not make sense, your saying give it four months and it will be better, it shouldnt be on tv if its not even entertaining strannahan acting is terrible.

reply

I'll say it is better than most.

I'll watch anything on the first episode, and I figured this to be like any UPN show (the entire cast of the pilot is 100% black, all leads, supporting, extras, etc.) and I'd turn it off after two minutes (because I wouldn't understand the jokes well enough to know if they really were jokes), but I couldn't turn it off, it was funny and kept getting funnier.

The jokes and the style of weaving them into a web where almost every joke references a previous joke is unusual. I only watched episode #1, but I will surely watch another. Good show!

reply

Eh. I don't know about that. Yeah, it's got a funny joke here and there, but it feels way too "safe", if you will. There's no edge to the characters or story. It just doesn't bring anything new to the table. When I watch it, it reminds me of that joke they did on the abysmal Cleveland Show about shows white people THINK black people would like.
