Yes, even Amblyopics can see this film / My Review, kinda ...

I have a visual anomaly called amblyopia. This is more than you wanted or deserve to know, I realize, but even when one's eyes don't work in stereo (I see the world in 2-D) one can still enjoy the 3-D viewing experience. Not quite sure how or why, and I was worried if I'd be able to see this film at all, but ... I could and that's what matters. That is, once I got used to wearing the very ill fitting glasses and the "ice cream headache" I had wearing them for the first 10-15 minutes of the film, until my eyes adjusted.
I found wearing the polarized lense specs easier to see with than those older school "one blue, one red lense" specs of yore. Thank God.

Before I tell people my opinion of what they can expect from seeing this film, I just want to tell folks my experience with one very nice projectionist -- After explaining my visual issue to him and the fact that I really didn't know if I would be able to see this film, at all, he KINDLY agreed (HUMOROUSLY in fact) to screen the first five minutes of it, just for me, so I could see what was what.

I cannot thank him enough. He went above and beyond. And, not only that but, the cashiers, even said that if I had any problems with viewing the film that they'd be GLAD to refund my money! Wow, now that's service , and with a smile even, along with.

I am a frequent patron of the theater so everyone there knows me and knows of my love of films so ... I am certain that their familiarity with me, helped.

OK, onward ...

This film really IS for fans of X Games, it's participants and the genre of sports films, ONLY!!
This film is a Documentary but it is not a primer on the Games for those folks who are entirely new to viewing them, or sports films.

I would not recommend going to see this film if ... you want to learn about matters. There are no participant Bios. There is no history of the Games provided. They don't give backgrounds about skating, surfing, sno-boarding, etc. The film makers just ASSUME that you already know everything there is to know about this stuff, and that all you want to see are your Faves whizzing around, up and down, back and forth, like the mad-men they are!
If you aren't familiar with X Games or the athletes, they I would recommend that you don't go to see the film, as it might bore you outta your gourd.

I am not dissing this, don't get me wrong ... .
I loved this film from the start all to the end of the end roll creds!
I am a FAN.

Emile Hirsch narrated the film, for all you fans of his film "Lords of Dogtown", and of him.
I could have sworn that I saw him in a brief cameo, at the film's very beginning, but ... I could be wrong. I remarked upon what I thought of his narration over on HIS MB, here. You can read my blurbs about him, there, if you care to.

I liked this film, alot. I left hyper-ventilating, and feeling pussy whupped. I guess that's good. I had to go lie down. I don't know ... .
It's a roller coaster ride for the senses, that's for sure.

My only quibbles about my viewing experience, were that I had to fork over more moulah than I ever had to do, to see this film (Costs a pretty penny more to see 3-D films, than it does others, which I hadn't known of) and then are those damn glasses which don't fit worth a darn, that took getting used to, as well.

Oh, well .... I had fun!!!

Good review...if only it could serve as a widely read PSA for non fans before they shell out the extra $$ for 3-D. I hope that those who are not into skate or moto did not feel too cheated out of their money.
