I'm confused by this movie.

I felt that we missed a great deal of the drama by skipping their teenage years and their mothers death.

If we take the movie at face value it suggests that they didnt sexualise their 'relationship' until after their mother died (why only then?). Then Thomas's father moves out and leaves them to it.

What I dont understand is is Thomas's father aware that they are now in a sexual relationship? Is he fine with this? (it's kind of implied that he's aware and that he doesnt seem to object). Are their friends aware?

Also, before the mother died... how where they with each other? Again I feel like we missed an integral part of the story here. It seems a bit odd that one day they just decide 'lets have sex' in the way it was shown on screen. It wasnt in the heat of the moment, it was like they were accepting an inevitablity and just giving in to it.

What we got was like some sort of fairytale with all the angst/drama removed.

Their teenage years had to have been more interesting!

I agree.
It is unrealistic. It would be more believable and erotic if the two brothers had been separated by divorce from each other by the time the older brother was 10 and then not reunited for about 5 years or by the time the younger brother was at least 13 or 14, Then a sexual relationship would be more likely.

Good idea, Chops! I think that would be a perfect seguay. And, if the brothers were simply shown as adults, the divorce would explain why they were apart and then re-united after the Mum's death.

That's not a hairstyle, it's a cry for help!

I definitely agree with the OP and the other poster. I think the movie could have been a lot better if they showed some angst and drama as the boys grew up. It would have made their relationship as adults somewhat more realistic, less random, and more compelling.

I can imagine a teenage Thomas who persistently puts the moves on Francisco to try and take their relationship to a romantic &/or sexual level, and Francisco firmly denying Thomas and his own feelings because of society, the age gap between him and Thomas, and a fear of disappointing their parents. It would have been so interesting, and the mutual stripping scene would have been much more meaningful!

Sighh- maybe someday someone could make a gay incest movie with talented and hot actors with sizzling chemistry, a good storyline AND a happy ending!
