Night club woman - purpose?
I agree with previous comments that the characters are not developed enough as adults and that the fact they are no confrontations and face no opposition - I think all of that is indisputable and the film could have been a lot meatier...however OK, I'll take it as a fairy tale and a story about pure love and not about how society views it.
BUT that still doesn't explain really how Francisco ended up with that woman and then invited her back to his. I wish we knew more of the two main characters' relationship history with others - did they have any other relationships? Were they gay? Straight? Bi?
I don't really get why he didn't go to a gay club, or in fact, as pointed out by someone else, it did look like he was going for the curly haired DJ but somehow ended up with the woman instead - by mistake? The woman is seen saying to the DJ "he's mine" as if competing with the DJ. So, if it were a mistake, then why did he kiss her? Is it actually irrelevant whether it was a man or a woman? Watching the brothers together, it seems that their love is so profound that it transcends any physical boundaries, that it doesn't matter they are both male, that they could have equally been sisters or brother and sisters and the same thing would have occurred. What do people think?
I thought it was a bit ridiculous though how after she spotted the wedding ring she just sauntered off with a smile and a kiss, not annoyed in the slightest, bidding him good night. Maybe not the most ridiculous aspect compared to other things though!
However I adored the two main characters, totally believed in their passion and deep love for one another and found myself quite accepting of it despite their fraternal bond - for this reason I'm willing to forgive the fact the director didn't explore other people's reactions to it too much, as it's surprising how accepting you can be of something that's meant to be taboo.
