Flowers?

I was wondering if anyone knows the name of the yellow flower Georges gives to Madeleine? The set direction was fabulous in this movie.

I was wondering about that, too. I'm guessing they were forsythia, they look like this:

The set direction was excellent, totally believable and atmospheric. They did a great job with the costumes, too.

Ooooo....I found it! The mimosa. Quite the interesting article about it, now I just want to find its meaning.

Hmmm... I thought mimosas were sort of droopier and more dense; the flowers in the film looked lighter and more upright to me, but I'm still guessing.

The meaning of mimosa is sensitivity. Not exactly appropriate for either Georges or Madeline.

Forsythia means good nature, Innocence, Anticipation, and none of those apply either

Darn, those meanings! I had hoped for a secret message to the plot and point of view from the set director.
