The twilight films don't do him justice but he's a good actor overall. I read Bel Ami a while ago, it's a great book, and I liked the movie as well. The editing was a bit weird at times but I enjoyed their adaptation, it's pretty true to the book. The acting was good too although some scenes were a bit awkward but that could have been the way they chose to edit it.

He gives it 2 1/2 stars out of 4. He thinks it should be in wider release and questions why it is not.

Bel Ami’ review: Robert Pattinson as sexual scoundrel
Stephen Whitty/The Star-Ledger

It’s a rich subject for a drama, and all credit goes to Robert Pattinson for taking the role. Playing a crude opportunist and shameless user of women – he couldn’t have picked a stronger stake to drive into the heart of Edward Cullen if he tried. (Although, personally, I think he is trying.)

Nor does its mad rush to get to the end. Cramming over 400 pages into a little over 100 minutes not only skips over important incidents – like Georges’ embarrassed return home with one love -- but rushes the characters through emotional arcs. Antagonists’ motives become confused and Georges himself a little vague.

There’s a movie in de Maupassant’s original, all right – but it’s a two-part miniseries, with lots of music and spacious sets, not this cramped little adaptation. Good as the actors all are, their stories need room to breathe. And Georges, that silk-hatted scoundrel, needs space to display all his caddish ways.

2012: The unmissable cultural treats
Next year promises to be a cultural jamboree, with world-class films, art exhibitions, gigs and theatre performances around the country. Our critics select the most exciting highlights:

Bel Ami, Under the Skin, Cloud Atlas, The Dark Knight Rises, Anna Karenina, Skyfall (previously Bond 23), The Great Gatsby, Rust And Bone, Great Expectations, Django Unchained, Cosmopolis

Cosmopolis: A multi-millionaire young stockbroker heads across Manhattan in a limousine to have a haircut. It may not sound like much of a starting point for a film but David Cronenberg's screen version of Don DeLillo's novel promises to be a sleek and disturbing satire about narcissism and modernity. Robert Pattinson stars as the self-absorbed anti-hero.

#9: Robert Pattinson You must be located under a rock as you do not know who this is. With his role as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire he knew the British Star of Tomorrow title to earn. If Edward Cullen in the Twilight series Pattinson finally broke through. He has storm many teenage hearts beat faster. This role also opened the necessary doors for him.

Pattinson is not sitting still and has taken every opportunity to live a life after Twilight to build. With roles in Little Ashes, Remember Me and Water for the Elephants , he has already shown that he is a versatile actor. With two films in the pipeline, Bel Ami and Cosmopolis, there is still much beauty to come.

I won't say Pattinson is a good actor but I really appreciate his hard work in this film. You won't be disappointed to see his face expression / acting skill is getting better than his old films. And I enjoy this film very much, not a masterpiece but entertaining.

Be polite or ffo kcuf, please!
