Can't believe they cancelled this!

On Nov 30th they cancelled this much to my surprise, I actually like this show and i'm not normally a fan of medical shows bar House.

I know Truama was cancelled then they changed their minds and requested a few more episodes I hope they change their minds re this show.

I think Three Rivers is good I like the main actor and his supporting cast they've had some good actors on their too and the stories are good....

Arrrrgh what is the network doing, if anything I thought Trauma would be cancelled I've watched all three new medical shows including Mercy which I love as its more soap style less drama, but Trauma I find unrealistic they can't even do CPR right and its just action scene to action scene really with less plot just each accident which you never see the results ie if they get better.

Three Rivers is fully rounded with tense cases, life or death and laughs

I know some people don't like this show but I do and I'm fed up of liking a show for it to suddenly be cancelled its so frustrating.

I couldn't agree more with you.

I can totally believe it was cancelled. The ratings were not good and the demos for 18 to 49 were absolutely one of the worst on CBS. That Hallmark movie on last Sunday kicked TR's butt ratingswise. It's amazing it was on as along as it was.

That being said, I watched it and thought it had wonderous potential for being a standup drama. Unfortunately epi 1 was quite dismal and most of the epis were so-so good. The epi with Mandy was outstanding. The writing put TR under; it was just not that good and it wasn't offset by much regular character humor or much of the backstory on these characters. That was a decision they chose for some reason, to rely on the weekly patients' stories rather than the regular characters' stories.

Agree Mandy's episode was very good he was fantastic in the role with his special quirky talent to play the special roles.

I think given time it would prove to be a worthwhile watchable show

reply

I totally agree with you. I'm not surprised that it got canceled, but saddened. The writing and the directing in this show was just for this show.

reply

Well, I've been hoping for some time that it would be cancelled, since it was not giving a very accurate picture of organ donation. But I must admit I did admire the episode with Mandy Patinkin.

However, this week's episode of House, MD took up the slack and put out all sorts of inaccurate info about organ donation. Sigh. Will no one ever take the time to get it RIGHT????

reply

I must admit a lot of shows don't fully give an accurate portrayal!

What did house do wrong?

The problem with the networks is that new shows now have to be "hits" by the sixth episode or else they are cancelled. They are no longer given a full season to catch on with viewers.

Some of the classic TV shows that lasted multiple seasons weren't hits right away, and would have been cancelled in today's climate, before they had a chance to take root.

reply

yea i'm surprised, i think it was just on on a bad TV nite, plus they always got bumped cuz of football...

i liked teh show, so it's gone altogether, no more new episodes??

reply

They cancelled it? I didn't know. No wonder it hasn't been on. I feel bad for Alex because this will be two shows that he was on that were canceled.

Don't give me attitude. I have my own.

what else was he on???

Moonlight - a much loved show where he portrayed an angst-ridden vampire in love with a human. It was great! Had a lot of humor, action, and a love story too.

OMG! If you don't know about Moonlight buy it on Amazon or rent it at Netflix. Also on Dec 16 there is a Moonlight marathon on Sy Fy channel. Awesome show! Treat yourself to some Moonlight! Alex is much better suited to the role of Mick than he was Andy, in my opinion.

And it was also on CBS.

reply

oh was he the lead guy on that show??

reply

Yes, he was. He played a private detective. He saved Beth when she was a little girl from his wife. He killed her and left with Beth and later found out that she didn't die. Beth finds out that Mick is a vampire and she knows that he's the one who saved her. It was a good show. He also had vampire friends. One was Josef who was rich and another who worked in the morgue who gave Mick blood bags.

reply

but he killed her mother or his wife?? i'm confused...

reply

CBS didn't give this show enough time to catch on. Your not going to know the character's full background story in the first couple of episodes. It takes time to do that. Take Criminal Minds for example, it wasn't till the fourth season (I think) that you found out about Spencer's mother being committed. Anyways, it was another good show that just got cut way to soon. Also it was so confusing time wise because each week it was on a different time because of how long the football games would run over which made the whole night line up shift with it.

CBS and Lifetime have taken off hit shows for no reason. Moonlight was the number 1 show when they canceled it and I loved it! And the same thing happened to a couple of shows (Missing, Blood Ties and the Division) on Lifetime (which is why I don't watch Lifetime anymore...except for Army Wives).

reply

no way, Moonlight was the #1 show?? based on what?? u mean your opinion??

i do agree this show wasn't given much time, but that's how things are nowadays..

reply

No not my opinion. It was listed that on one of the websites. Tvguide maybe? I don't remember. I should have been more clear. It was the Number One New Show for the season it premiered....not the Number One show out of them all. I did really enjoy watching it though.

reply

Why cancel the number one show? That just doesn't make sense to me.

reply

who killed his wife?

oh number 1 new show is kind of different but is that based on ratings or critics... and how long did it last anyway??

reply

Why cancel the number one show? That just doesn't make sense to me.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I think the show was number 1 in some poll but it was not as popular as other CBS shows like CSI, The Mentalist, NCIS, and etc. so unfortunately Three Rivers was canceled.

reply

He thought that he killed his wife, but she came back later in the show.

reply

I kinda hope that Alex's contract with CBS had a "three strikes" clause. They had him in a great show (Moonlight) and cancelled it. Then they put him in this and cancel it. It somehow doesn't seem fair that he be forced to wait around for another CBS show. His talent deserves an outlet! Unless they bring back Moonlight, of course!!!

reply

whoever wrote and directed this show brought it on to themselves. I think most of us knew from the very 1st episode that this wasn't going to last long with it's lack of character development, redundancy and cheesy fake high tech hospital setting. It's a shame too because I was hoping Daniel Henney would be able make a breakthrough in Hollywood with this show giving him a boost.

reply

I caught this show one night after the Amazing Race and really liked it. It is too bad they don't give a show a chance before they axe it.
