Based on suicide allegations Judas Priest?

Pardon my English, i'm Dutch.

I was asking myself, all through the movie, if the film is loosely based on the allegations at Judas Priest? When the two boys try to commit suicide and the parents blaimed the music?

I think that the 1985 Judas Priest incident/trial was definitely the inspiration behind the incident in the film.
