So was the old man in the snow for real? Is anyone's skin that curtainy-like? Why wasn't his face as wrinkly? Kind of made me think it was a special effect of some kind. I have never seen anyone that wrinkly, especially as he didn't exactly look shrunken like people I've seen who are actually 80. Then again I haven't seen them naked.

Yes. An amazing 95% of the budget went to a 30 second scene in which the filmmakers created an incredibly life like humanoid that walked in the snow...challenging Avatar for special effects magic. We are all still searching for the reason they did this, as is Sean Penn who took a much lower salary as he was told this was a small indie film.
