Excited about this film!

I'm excited about this film... I know it's not 100% accurate, but The Sorrows of Young Werther is one of my favorite books, so it's nice to see what inspired the book!

Has anyone seen this yet?

I just saw it on Netflix and enjoyed it thoroughly. I also read "Die Leiden des jungen Wethers" although it was in college some time ago, yet the story came back to me like a flood while watching this movie. The German actors in this movie really took this film to another level. All too often, it's usually Brits who render German characters and literature into something that for all intents and purposes is lost in translation. That said, half the thrill of this production was seeing fresh German faces whom heretofore, were relatively unknown in the English dramatic world. And a hats off to the excellent production value of this movie whose period scenery and costumes also lent to a high degree of authenticity and believability.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

Too bad the film was filled with one cliched scene after another, and the end seemed more fitting for a modern story (Goethe getting mobbed by a crowd of admirers and becoming a star).

I kept watching because I liked the two principal actors (and Moritz Bleibtreu, of course), as well as the setting, but the writing was pretty awful.
