Not buying it

I understand this is a work of fiction and we are supposed to suspend believability but there are a couple of things that I just can't buy.

I've liked Liam Neeson in almost everything I've seen him in but....An Admiral in the US Navy? Fortunately it wasn't much of a part. He did get his share of recognition but...Sorry, I'm not buying it.

Secondly, There is no way in hell they could have walked up to a couple of ol' deck hands turned tour guides and gotten access to get a National treasure. At a minimum it would have taken somebody much farther up the chain of command that those two clowns. "We want to borrow your ship".

Finally, there is NO WAY they could have gotten underway within any time that would be effective, analog or not it would have taken weeks to get that thing to move. I did 24 years in the US Navy and I've been on that thing and just relighting the old fossil and getting the engine room up and rocking "not gonna happen. Period".

If there's a way to screw something up, the "O'Commie regime" will find it EVERY SINGLE TIME!! Only 269 more days left.

I'm absolutely sure you are right, but I think it was the whole thing about having reserve personnel, invalided veterans and old battleships helping out in the battle. We were just expected to forget reality and flow with it, though I expect it would be pretty difficult for an ex-naval sailor such as yourself.🐭
