The Best Film I Have Ever Seen.....

Nevermind Citizen Kane, The Seventh Seal and The Third Man...Battleship ROCKS!!

Its being shown once a week at least here in the UK which is bizarre but what's more bizarre is that I can enjoy it every time.

When is the sequel coming out?...will everyone be even better looking? will the special effects be even more awesome? will the plot be even less necessary?....will it be called Battleship 2?

Hoping for a Roger Dodger on all those.....

Rated a big 10.

You're either trolling, an idiot, or seriously need to get out more.

You don't do irony do you?

Poe's Law.

Too many ACTUALLY STUPID people that you cannot tell when someone is being ironic vs honestly ignorant.

Face to face, irony is often done with the tone of voice when making the statement

In the written online world... there is no tone of voice. Whithout a smiley or some other way of indicating that they're j/k.. They run the risk of being taken at their word.

That is not the failure of the reader in not getting irony, it's the failure if the writer in not communicating the irony or sarcasm.

It's fairly obvious that the OP was not being serious - Look at the films they list that they say this movie is better when compared to - all considered some of the best motion pictures in history. Then later on they ask if there will be a sequel - There won't be one because it underperformed, then they ask "will the plot be even less necessary?" which just cements that they were being sarcastic the entire time.

And you played right into the palm of their hands, took it seriously, and made their day. While you were dumbfounded they probably read their response and laughed themselves out of their chair at home.

In his defense, he did put "0 out of 10" in the bottom of his post.

Anyway, who is this movie supposed to appeal to? I just watched about five minutes of it for the first time. I wouldn't call myself an expert on naval warfare, but the few minutes of it I saw were incredibly stupid. They find an object in the middle of an ocean, so a chief attempts to hail anyone by saying, "I am trying to communicate with you." Then, a lieutenant jumps on the thing and wades in water up to his knees only to be knocked off the thing by an electrical current. Next, an F/A-18 comes out of nowhere to fly into some energy field and shatters into a million pieces.

That was enough for me. Is it supposed to be a kids' movie? I see it has a score of 5.9, which by IMDB standards, is saying it's an okay movie.

It's made for people like me who like action sci-fi movies. It's not great cinema, it's fun cinema and not to be taken too seriously, I enjoy movies like this a lot more than stupid super hero movies.

Thanks for the response. I like military movies and sci-fi movies, but this one looked really silly. I know CG has seen a lot of military movies, so I was wondering what his take on it.

I saw someone else said it was great if you're a 13-year-old boy. If that's the target for this movie, it's probably not something I will ever like.

Give it another chance, this movie is a hidden gem if you like fun and entertainment, just don't sweat the small stuff that they take poetic liberties with.

Well here though... I can agree. Except maybe 3 or top 4 films, superheroes movies are pretty much the thing i despise the most in cinema.

I tried to watch Det sjunde inseglet (1957) last month, but when I saw that I had to read subtitles, I was no longer interested. Sometimes I watch movies playing in the background while I read messages on IMDb. Kind of hard to do when they're not speaking English.

Now, judging by my post above, am I being serious?

You basically saying that this movie is a joke while calling it the best movie you ever seen. That is just... Stupid.
