Going through the episode synopses left me with one overriding thought: there are SO many good episodes, it's almost impossible to pick a favourite in each season. So, I'm including some runners-up...
S1: Modern Warfare - maybe not the most original pick, but this pushed the limits of how far the show could go and blew the doors wide open.
S1 runner-up - As much as I respect your choice of Contemporary American Poultry (also awesome), I'm going with Introduction to Film. The scene near the end where Abed shows the movie he's been making...really moving. And that's remarkable because it's three episodes in.
S2: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons - This is a contender for my favourite Community episode ever. I laugh every time Annie seduces the elf maiden and Troy's taking notes!
S2 runner-up - Messianic Myths and Ancient Peoples - Abed's movie plot is hilarious, thought-provoking, meta, and philosophical.
note: Season 2 is so frickin' good, it's extra impossible picking out of this glorious batch. Stop motion, zombie Halloween, missing pens, and they somehow topped the paintball of the previous year... I stand by my choices, but with this batch, it's almost impossible to argue with any two episodes.
S3: Remedial Chaos Theory - obviously.
S3 runner-up - Regional Holiday Music - "Boopy-doopy-boop-doop sex." Jeff's HORRIFIED expression throughout is hilarious and he nails it with "diminishing returns on the sexiness."
S4: Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations - Jeff's story here is solid, and the breakout from Shirley's is good stuff.
S4 runner-up - Advanced Introduction to Finality - got weird with the timeline thing, but if it hadn't come back for five and six, Pierce graduating would have been a reasonable end to the show.
note: I don't hate this season, and I don't dislike it as much as others seem to. Bad Community is still better than a lot of other shows.
I'll have to put the others into a second post...
