All the seasons are top notch, except for 5 and 6.

Season 3 - It's close between Seasons 3 and 2 for best. But slightly more consistent in season 3.

Season 2 - Just as good as 3. Show really hits it's stride in Season 2.

Season 1 - Took a bit for me to get into it. But once I did, I'm glad I stayed.

Season 4 - It's really not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The Dean was the MVP this year and had the most LOL moments. Chang-nesia was terrible. The writing took a hit but the chemistry is still there, and still fun to watch. I think the Dan Harmon fiasco plays a part in the hate.

Season 5 - Had a handful of funny moments but the dynamic was off. I missed Pierce and Troy, and the show didn't feel the same without them. Jonathan Banks is great, even though he was basically playing Mike Ehrmantraut 2.0. Adding Chang to the study group was the worst mistake ever. But Banks aside this season wasn't that good.

Season 6 - Pure cringe all around. I don't understand how people crap all over Season 4 when Season 6 exists. The dynamic here was worse then in Season 5. Everything just felt off. Glad we didn't have a season 7.

Also I feel it has to be said that while I understand the producers wanted to capitalize of Ken Jeong's Hangover popularity he should have been written off after Season One. He should have went the way of the rest of the teachers who had one season roles, and were written off after the group went to their next class. I'm sorry but I don't like Ken Jeong, never have, never will. But even the biggest Jeong fans have to admit this character really served no purpose after Season 1. He was living in vents, had amnesia, an evil security guard, it was mind numbingly stupid. Then he tries to kill everyone and eventually befriends the group. GTFO.

I agree with you that seasons 1-3 were the best and 4-6 were worse. I also agree that season four isn't as bad as people say it is. Maybe that's just because it's the last time the original study group are all together (although Chevy Chase clearly wasn't interested in being on set very long and his absences are super-obvious).

Season six isn't pure cringe, though, and I enjoyed a lot of it. They managed to resurrect paintball in a great way, the fibreglass hand episode is brilliant, Keith David's is awesome, and Garrett's wedding? Come on. There's some good stuff in there. If nothing else, the series finale is quite touching and very well-done. It's bittersweetness was a bold move.

Yes, the dynamic is off. That's very true. But, I think they did a good job with what they had.

Keith David is awesome is everything he does. No denying that. But David was there I felt merely to fill the "old man" role. The new group in Season 6 I just didn't like at all.

I'm happy you liked 6, but I couldn't take it. I was ready for it to be over in the worst way. At least 5 had it's share of funny moments. I maybe laughed 4 or 5 times during Season 6 I was in agony.

I love Chevy Chase to death. As much of a jerk as he is behind the scenes, he's still a brilliant comedic genius. That being said the show could have def survived without him. However breaking up Troy and Abed was the real nail in the coffin for Community. It never recovered from that for me, hence I'm glad it ended when it did.

I am rewatching all seasons right now. I have now reached the last season and I have to say that I had almost forgotten how bad season 6 was. The first 4 seasons are all pretty good (even though certain concepts do get repeated more often in the later seasons) and season 5 still contains a few excellent episodes. However in season 6 the quality of the show plummets: the quality of the writing is noticeably bad, original episode concepts are out the door, new characters don't work that well, the old characters look tired (especially Abed and Annie) and the tempo is noticeably slower. Also it just isn't as funny as it used to be and often the tone is uncharacteristicly serious at times. Season 6 feels like a rushed season with very little quality control and a low budget.

My ranking:

Season 2
Season 1
Season 3
Season 4

Season 5
