How good will this be?
Not good, it will be worse then Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
shareI think the show itself looks good. The problem is the bad bad bad bad outfit they've given the Phantom, which holds zero appeal to me and resembles some kind of cyborg ninja.
shareAnd the kid playing him seems somewhat less than intimidating...
Hold Brillan!
He looks like a model.
-I'm in a meeting, Spike.
-Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't care.
Yeah, he's too small, but I could get past that if he wore a competently designed costume. Now he looks like The Dork Who Walks, resembling a very flamboyant SWAT-team member.
But heck, maybe the costume will work better when I actually see it on the show. It just looks pretty bad on most of the photos I've seen of it. The new hood makes him look like some kind of snowboarder.
As for Carnes looking like a model, you could say the same about Billy Zane before he got the role in 1996, but he beefed up so much that he looked like he could beat Schwarzenegger and Stallone together in a bar fight. Carnes has seemingly not had the time to work out as much as his predecessor before shooting started, which is a shame. He is very short, but could have made up for that with good old fashioned muscles.
Then again, this Kit Walker is unaware of his family legacy, and therefore not prepared for the lifestyle of the Phantom. Maybe he can get bigger in a potential regular series.
I think Carnes looks like a fine actor, but I would be lying if I said he looks like the ultimate choice for the Phantom. A taller and less boy-ish guy was what I wanted, but I'm sure Carnes will do a fine job with the part either way.
