Two Different Phantoms

People on these message board keep trying to compare the Syfy's Phantom to the Bill Zane's Phantom, or the Phantom in general. Syfy's Phantom is updated and changed to reflect the difference. Syfy's Kit Walker chronologically would be the son of Bill Zane's Phantom. Most of the comics tell the tale of Zane's Phantom.

This difference is why the story can be difference. Most sons will not completely emulate their fathers. They inherently put their own twist on his teaching and forge their own path. Plus Carnes's Phantom is the first since the original not to start his training as a kid, so he would rely on technology more than his predecessors.

Ryan Carnes's version of Phantom is also the first Phantom that didn't feel stupid and hokey to me. I loved the character but a guying running around in that purple suit would stand out like Barney when you're flipping through channels. That's not good for a superhero's health that's just human. Plus I'm still hoping Syfy bring it to series with all the recent cancellation of they have done.
