I couldn't really understand...

Something I really couldn't understand which really frustrated me was Hritik's character. I couldn't understand his character at all. His whole demeanor/personality and view of life LOOKED and seemed as if he ENJOYED life yet what was coming out of his MOUTH was 'I want to die'. It was as if who he was physically and what came out of his mouth were TWO DIFFERENT people. I couldn't understand this and it frustrated me so much throughout my viewing. I'm probably the only one who even thinks this but I would like to know what other people in his character's position think and feel of his performance.

For me some of the drama was too suddenly over-dramatic. Otherwise, SLB films visually still beautiful.

Exactly my point.
Thank you, you're not the only one.
This movie sucked donkey balls.
NO STORY.
NO BASE.
NO PLOT-DEVICE.
And most and worst of all,
NO INTEGRITY.
Whats the point in watching a movie where the director can't stay true to his story? *beep* hack, Bhansali.

Watch the film "The Sea Inside". Read a few of the books written by people who want to die as quadriplegics. And they you'll understand. Hrithik did a good job with this tension.

You know what, I think I will sorta revise my original thinking on this one. A few months ago, I was talking to a nurse who had watched a Tamil dubbed version of 'Guzaarish' and she said she absolutely LOVED this film. I asked her 'why?!?!?' - I don't really remember her exact compliments but upon my opposing reaction, she said my perception was most likely due to my worldview on the whole subject matter of this film. I will say that I still can't fully understand Ethan's character and reasoning but I'm probably now more closer to accepting why he feels the way he did. I guess I would have to be put in his position to fully understand...
