Wow!

I was totally spellbound by that trailer, and I'm surprised to find that there haven't been many posts on here about this movie. Is there any date on a US release perhaps?

There is no US distributor yet, but that may change in coming weeks. Oranges and Sunshine is currently playing the festival circuit (this week it screened in Glasgow and Dublin) in advance of its official UK opening April 1. (The film is also scheduled to open in Australia, on 21 April.) I've been pleasantly surprised by how many US-based film websites have cross-posted the trailer... it is frustrating that it doesn't start the sort of IMDb message board conversations that, say, superhero flicks do, but that's the nature of the business. ;) The film does have a UK-based Facebook page if you haven't seen it yet: http://www.facebook.com/orangesandsunshine

This keeps tabs on festival screenings and other current info. Hopefully a wide international distribution deal and independent website will be forthcoming. I'm in the US too, so I'm pretty invested in getting it over here. ;) Even little things like asking about the film at your local arthouse cinema or adding it to your Netflix Saved queue (if you're a member) can help get the word out that Americans want to see this.

From Wikipedia:

The release date has been moved from 19 September 2009 to 2 July 2010 and again to April 2011.

I don't know why this film is having so much trouble finding the backing it needs.

I'm very anxious to see this & hope it won't be another year of waiting!

Ive been trying to check the Irish Cinemas and Movie Houses particularly in the North to see where and when it will be released here. So far s of today cant find one. Ken Loach's stuff usually gets well covered here. As I am currently involved in the Campaign for an Inquiry into Institutional Abuse in the North of Ireland this is an integral part of the whole issue. Over the years I have been in contact with many people and families who were separated as a result of forced migration.Anyone with any info please contact me at: [email protected]

There is now a US distribution deal in place: the Cohen Group will bring Oranges and Sunshine to the US this September. They have some success getting indie films Oscar attention, as does the film's production team. There are also plans to distribute the film in France, Australia, Greece and Portugal.
