One problem with the plot

I liked the original and I quite enjoyed the remake too. But I think there was one problem with the remake's plot. The movie almost completely skipped the part where the main character suspects the neighbor of being a vampire (which is the most interesting part). It went straight into the part where it is clear to all that he is indeed a vampire. It almost felt like some part of the movie was cut out. Towards the beginning when Charley and Edward went into their friend's house, Edward states out of the blue "this new neighbor of yours is a vampire". At that time we had not even met the neighbor yet. For people who had not seen the original that might have seemed rather confusing, because there was no apparent reason to suspect the new neighbor. Later on we learned that Edward had been spying on the new neighbor, but the movie could have show us that earlier to make the story progress in a more logical fashion. Still, nice movie.

We had already met Jerry when Ed tells him that line about the neighbor being a vampire.

No plot hole. We need Jerry in the scene before Charley meets Ed at Adam's house. The mom was flirting with him in the yard.

True, they did cut out a lot of the mystery investigation part of the plot that the first movie had. They kind of transferred a lot of that to Ed and made him into the character that no one believes.
