Well, the actual details are:
If happens the night where Cesar sleeps with Mimi while the boyfriend is there (they're both drugged). After Mimi goes to work, the boyfriend is cleaning the house, specifically he took the sheets off the bed to wash them and he found Cesar's stash - the chloroform, syringe, etc. He knew it was Cesar because of how suspicious he was the first time they met.
(That's when he should have called the police)
Instead, he goes down to the basement and tells Cesar there's more bugs. Cesar comes up to fumigate, but the boyfriend shows Cesar the stuff he found. Cesar knew he was busted. And then the fight happens.
