I just don't understand how everyone is so amazed by this when the story is simple as a nail, the dialogues are overly dramatic whereas the fight scenes are utterly ridiculous, possibly written by an 8 year old.

I mean it's 2010 ffs not the 70's!!!

Yet the hero is still only able to fight off multiple enemies if they all patiently wait for their turn while he's fighting 2 at a time.
Blades can cut through 4 by 4 but only scratch the human flesh.
The fool throws a stone hitting one man but two fall down, the second is meters away.
And when someone is dying everyone stands down so he can finish his last words! Wtf?!

(I could go on but wasted enough of my time already)

Go on, hate me if you want but that won't make this movie any better.

I've seen good samurai film but this isn't one of them.

It's a movie, dude. If you watch any martial arts film you'll note the same disparities.

I'll be honest with you, I had the same thoughts as you did going through this movie but I laughed so many times that I just have to say that I enjoyed it. IMO, it was a comedy/action flick. I was expecting an epic samurai masterpeice. I wish I could give it 9 or 10 but it ended at 8/10 for me.

hey, i'm not one to judge a person for finding comic elements where there is none

i've found myself laughing through some horror movies

so many movies, so little time

Those "problems" are just common features of the samurai movie genre.

A common issue in thousands of movies. But still a good movie.

Yeah but those films don't have an 84 metascore.
