the woman with no limbs

I've seen some messed up sh!t on film, but for some reason, this scene scarred me for life. It wasn't particularly gory, but as a woman and a person, I really couldn't think of enduring anything more tragic than
-having no limbs, let alone enduring the pain of having them removed
-not being able to taste, eat properly, or talk
-being deprived of having the ability to do anything physically (except piss and crap on myself...oh, and write things using my mouth, as I eternally cry)
-being constantly looked at with pity or disgust (I mean, you are literally a walking, wait...living buzz kill)
-watching my whole family get slaughtered
-being treated as a sex slave, and then finally being cast aside
-all while still being conscious and somewhat sane enough to relay a message that reeks of anger and agony. The only peace she most likely gets is from sleeping, and even then, she probably wakes up screaming from her misfortune, if she even sleeps deeply enough to dream. Is there no end to her suffering? Oh yeah, probably when she dies. That scene affected me so much, I couldn't really pay attention to the rest of the movie. I just kinda stayed in my own head the rest of the night. Never will I say the phrase "fml" without thinking of this woman again. I know it is fiction, but it was still very effective. Total massacre is right, you poor, poor woman.

This is not the greatest signature in the world. This is just a tribute.

Yes. Shinza calls her "Poor Woman." And indeed she is. Cannot eat or use a toilet without help. And Naritsugu raped her repeatedly! What else did he do to her?? Poor woman cannot even commit suicide! Cannot speak!! Cries blood!!!!

Damn that makes me mad. Especially seeing her being tossed out into the mud! DAMN!!

I too am affected by her. And yikes - her scream!! Tongue-less scream for the ages!!!

Shinza almost cries. Almost. But he smiles, knowing that he gets a chance to avenge the Poor Woman. Fate smiles upon him. Great film.

KIAI ... please.

Is she completely computer generated or someone acted for at least her head?
Can't seem to find her on the list of casts.

It looks to me like one of the few and small CGI uses in 13. It is a nightmarish scene done with a little shock and pointed drama. I, you, everyone hates the Lord now! We all want him dead. Great film!

Her name is Mitsuki Tanimura, an excellent young actress. No idea why she isn't listed here.

TV Tropes would call that scene a "kick the dog" moment. It's when you realize the villain has no redeeming qualities and you really want him to get killed.

reply

Not just killed... killed in a bad way.

I thought he died too quickly. He should have been made to suffer. Props to the actor for making me want to see him get killed in the most gruesome manner possible.

reply

I think that is Chise Makino.

reply

I saw this movie two days ago and holy ****. If you need any other reason to kill that sadistic S.O.B., seeing the "poor woman" was it.

reply

I agree with the initial thread, it left me feeling cold for the rest of the film when I saw her, not quite scarred, but I love it when a film makes me feel REAL emotions.

reply

Surprising but not shocking. Watch Mike's "Imprint" and the limbless woman will seem like Martha Stewart.

I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.

reply

Reminded me of the poor gal in Titus, yeesh!

reply

It was disturbing. But at the same time very, very hot.

Not as hot as the naked boy peeing--but then, what is?

reply

It's Lord Naritsugu Matsudaira reincarnate. The evil has returned, and calls himself Bilwick1!!!

We need to take him out!!! I need 12 more great warriors for this mission!
Who's with me?!!!

AFC to PUA. That's the dream.

reply

Freaking creep. Take that *beep* elsewhere paedo.

reply

that was creepy as hell.

One of the most creepiest scenes I've seen! Hands-down. Sent chills down my back!

"She was happy to see me only because she was on the rag, and I was her emotional tampon."

reply

Yes this was the moment that reminded me that Miike was the director. Simple but really uncomfortable images with a nightmarish quality - that was Audition all the way.
