He is right in everything positive he said about this film, cus it is indeed fantastic.. Dont mind him being utterly blinded by his love for 'Un Prophete', which he mentions some 500 times, it is indeed also a fine film but dont let his words not make you wanna watch this, thats all i want to get through :)

reply

Yeah, but have you seen 'Un Prophete' yet?

reply

I didn't find this fantastic at all. Merely watchable. There's a few interesting moments, sure, but the whole story just seems a bit - I don't know - "flat". The twist was a big surprise (leaving out spoilers), but everything up to that was pretty plain and dull. It seemed that the authors biggest focus were exactly that twist and that the story up to that point lacked focus and attention because of that.

Also, the reviewer is right. This is with no doubt very inspired by Un Prophete, and yes, Un Prophete is better. ;)

reply

What was the twist? I only hopped and skipped ahead, and didn't manage to see any major twists.

reply

I watched the whole movie and didn't notice any particular "twist" to the story...

Spoiler:

You didn't notice the twist where the main character dies and we follow a different guy for the rest of the movie? Wow......

I wouldn't call that much of a twist.

It makes it realistic IMO, people in prisons do not die nobly or tragically.

reply

I agree. It was a realistic movie. No body is gonna die saving children from a burning orphanage. Haha

Hollywood film 101 maybe...
