Is the mother really perhaps an innocent bystander at first?

All she wanted was to protect her boys and get them out of town safely. She was friendly to them all at first and had them sit on the sofas and even baked a cake (which they didn't eat). Is there anything to indicate if the mother even wanted or knew about the bank robbery? Perhaps she just didn't want to turn her boys in, but maybe she was a good mother caught in a dilemma she was unprepared for. Do we even know if she has a criminal past? You can't really blame her for wanting her money -- who wouldn't?

Just trying to look at it through her eyes. They called her for help.

Are you kidding me??? That bitch was PURE evil, from the moment she walked into the house. She intimidated all of them with fear and false hope.

But there's nothing to show that she sanctioned or knew about the bank robbery or that she really wanted any of them hurt if they could escape safely with the money. What is there that shows she meant them harm until they started fighting back? Not wanting to turn in her own sons and also wanting to get her money back are not things you can fault her for.

I am sure Mother knew about the robbery, or at least what her boys were doing all that time. If I recall correctly, Ike told her their partner was the reason things were flubbed, and she told them that they knew better than to take a partner. I do agree, though, that she probably had no intentions of harming anyone until they were foolish and fought back.

Of course, that's a chance I don't think I'd be willing to take in their position. If you can't take the word of a criminal who broke into your home and is holding you hostage, who can you trust, right? LOL

Besides, she could've planned to kill them anyway so as to get rid of all eyewitnesses. In a case like that you really have to act fast as time is the one thing you need on your side.

I don't know about that. It sounded like this was a hardcore criminal family. She stole babies out of nurseries and was seen killing a security guard in a hospital in the beginning in order to kidnap the baby. Remember the doctor- hostage who guessed that's what she did? Women like that are not exactly dainty maidens unwilling to get their hands dirty.

she IS evil. this revealed when the doctor figures out that none of the kids are actually her biological children. none of those family members are biologically related to each other. the mom is just a crazy woman who kidnapped a series of infants and then raised them in a crazy lifestyle. she is insane and she turned babies into killers

the inside joke to all of this is that how often do "movie siblings" ever look the slightest bit like each other or like their parents...very rarely.

Well, we all make mistakes. Nobody's perfect.
