Yeah. That bugged me too. But then, that's the case with most horror flicks. The characters never seem to do the best things. For example, when you knock the bad guy down, you don't just throw away your weapon and run, you should keep stabbing, shooting, or bludgeoning the bad guy until he is just a puddle of goo. Several times the characters did that in this movie. Although, to their credit, they did stab Addie quite a lot of times.
Plus, they spent the first half of the movie alone downstairs with an array of weapons (billiard balls, knives in the box, lumber, screwdrivers, etc.) and they did nothing with them. I thought the movie was going to turn good when the black guy grabbed a pool stick, but nothing ever came of it.
