I think they probably do a "background check" on people who get into the show after the audition and he was found out.

Or maybe he just peeled carrots in a professional kitchen years ago and he didn't think it was "professional cooking". Who knows?

Well, one assumes they do background check of some sort or another before it starts, so I'd wager they were tipped off, the same way they were told after the series began about the skinny asian guy who's brother is a MC judge (or something like that) in Indonesia.

That same season, season 4, wasn't there a contestant, Carey(Carie?sp.?) who owned a cupcake business? Isn't that a cooking professional?
