Serious question about one of characters

In the movie, the kid that created the Facebook account to pull the prank on Ben, did anyone feel that he did it because he was gay? I kept getting that vibe that he was doing it because he actually liked him

reply

I vaguely considered that. But that's simply reading into it more than necessary since even if that's the case nothing came of it. The other friend was very heartless however, equating him to being gay if he felt a shread of real sympathy.

reply

Not gay but they were connected through their similar family issues.

reply

Not for one second.

This is the problem with people (mainly males) showing any empathy or sympathy being perceived as "gay". "Oh, he was probably actually gay because he actually cared.

Never had a drink that I didn't like; Got a taste of you, threw up all night

reply

It slightly crossed my mind but they were both similar. The "tough" kid was hiding his true feelings. he still carried out his plan but really regretted it.

reply

He was angry, confused and lonely.even being surronded by people but having no real connections causes serious lonliness.

fat pink mast!

I think Colin Ford's character honestly connected with the kid who hanged himself (forgot his name) while he was catfishing him on Facebook, developing a real (although hetero) friendship in secret that they couldn't have experienced in the real world at school. Colin also connected with Jason Bateman as a father figure moreso than he did his own Dad in the aftermath! That connection clearly could have gone wrong in so many ways & we never know if Bateman's character turned Colin and his punk friend over to the cops before finally joining his family at his son's hospital bedside!
