7.6...what is wrong with people?

Don't get me wrong, this movie is not flawless and definetely not the best movie of all time, but 7.6...seriously? That is what I expect from one of the sixth hundred comic adaption movie when it comes to a rating...but not this movie.

This movie touches base with humanity, technology and how it affects each and everyone of us in a way that couldn't be told in a more relatable way. If it didn't happen to you, you know or heard of someone who had it happen to him/her.

The acting is absolutely top notch from each and every single actor in it. People you only saw in comedies mostly, like Jason Bateman, show a side that totally works for them in a full drama role, kinda like it did for Steve Carell back in Little Miss Sunshine or Bill Murray in Lost in Translation.

I agree that this movie prolly doesn't work for everybody...I don't see immature or life inexperienced people to really relate to much of it, but as a full grown person with both feet in life, I can hardly imagine how you couldn't relate to it in some way.

The whole thing is just topped by the perfectly fitting soundtrack throughout the whole movie. There is not one song, or track that doesn't fit the mood, or the scene absolute 100%.

I watched it a 2nd time several months after I watched it for the first time and it had the exact same impact on me as it did on the first time, which really doesn't happen a lot with movies like these.

The limited release in theatres really broke this movies credibility. I'm sure with the right advertising and a wider release this could have become a huge independend hit and any rating below 8.3ish would just seem ridiculous.

7.6 is not a bad rating at all. It's actually very good. The IMDB rating system is just flawed. 10-star range is very difficult. High ratings 8-10 are given way too often. It skews the system and people start to think that a movie rated 6.X is really bad. The whole scale is just not used properly.

A movie has to have something exceptional to earn a 9 and above IMO. An 8 should be a very good film and even decent films can get 6s.

You mention comic adaption movies. Most of them should barely get a 6 or 5 but people never give that low score if they like a movie even just a bit. Popularity of IMDB has broken the system. There's garbage in the top250.

I completely agree on the rating scale. I rarely give 9+. That is saved for exceptional movies and tv shows. I guess the crowd of "this movie was boring" who give it a 3-5, really drag down the overall rating. I know that 7.6 still is really good.

It's just kinda frustrating, cause Disconnect definetely deserves 8+ xD

This movie needs to be seen by everyone, it deserves a higher rating.

You get a better understanding of a movie's rating if you look at the demographic histograms by clicking on the vote number to the right of the stars. For this movie you will see that the median vote is 8 which is very high. You'll also notice that the curve is very smooth and natural. There are no other peaks that you will often see, especially for votes of 1 or 10 which just indicate people trying to game the ratings. (That doesn't work.) The smooth curve suggests that this movie is getting exactly the votes that it deserves.

Personally I didn't like it that much. Sure, it was well acted and the production values were high, and sure it seems to capture some real life emotions, but the various separate threads didn't seem to have much to do with each other. You could just as well have broken it out into 4 short films instead. 4 good short films, but not very special overall.

You think that's low!? Have you seen the ratings (lately) of older masterpieces? You must be referring to modern movies as people these days seem to give trash an 8 and below mediocre a 10. I'm surprised this gets a 7.6 as it's actually a good movie for once.

You think 7.6 is a low rating? LOL!
